The Scholarship Fund 501(c)(3) 

Our sister organization, the Women’s Club of Great Falls Scholarship Fund, is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1982 by Doris Fisher Irwin, founding president of the Women’s Club of Great Falls. Inspired by a desire to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education, the Scholarship Fund operates under a separate Board of Directors from the Women’s Club of Great Falls, which is a 501(c)(7) social organization.

The Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to deserving students who reside in Northern Virginia and attend Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) or George Mason University (GMU).

Over the years, the Scholarship Fund Board has established three endowments at GMU: the Doris Fisher Irwin Endowment, the Holly Ann Kuga Endowment, and the WCGF Scholarship Fund Endowment. These endowments help ensure that scholarships will continue to be awarded in perpetuity, reflecting the Fund’s enduring commitment to investing in students and strengthening the community.

In addition to these endowments, the Fund hosts an annual spring fundraiser and other fundraising activities throughout the year. Proceeds from these efforts support additional general scholarships awarded annually. Depending on fundraising success, the Fund typically awards between eight and twelve scholarships each year.

The Scholarship Fund Board is proud to give back to the community by making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and is continually inspired by the testimonials it receives from scholarship recipients.
